Differences Between Thrillers And Romantic-Comedies

Differences:

- Thrillers use low-key lighting to create a creepy atmosphere, while romantic-comedies make use of high-key lighting to produce a happy environment.

         Low-key lighting:

         High-key lighting:

- Thrillers typically open on quite a dark mood, but romantic-comedies generally open on love-based drama.

- Thrillers reveal their characters slowly to create a sense of mystery, whereas romantic-comedies don't try to hide their characters identities.

                                          Over-the-shoulder shot:

                                          Medium close-up:

- Thrillers include faster cuts to quicken the pace, while romantic-comedies have quite long shots to generate a relaxed and calm atmosphere.

- Titles in thrillers are chilling, and are usually played while eerie sounds can be heard, and romantic-comedy titles are bright and played over emotional/cheerful music.
